We create interior spaces for education.

From the dynamic and disciplined delivery of the simplest refurbishment through to large and extensive projects, our team scale and adapt the services to suit your project requirements.

Whether a toilet block or the new sixth form, the changing rooms or the library, the kitchen or the business suite, the science lab or the music department, we can expertly adapt a small space or the entire school.

You can choose from architectural consultancy, project management, budget preparation, space planning, interior design and full refurbishment services. Our team can assist from the early stages with stakeholder engagement and planning consents, or bring our construction team in to just deliver your scheme.

We break our services down into three key sections:

Our consultancy team have many years of experience in leading client-side strategy, coordinating both internal and external experts, as well as working exclusively on your project.

Master Plan

Your masterplan is the guiding principles that steer you down the road to create the environment of successful learning for decades to come.  Not only for your physical real estate but a true masterplan will bring together the people and the places through combining your history, culture and aspirations for the future.

The fear for any investment is that current funds are used on a short term plan which fails to meet the long term objectives of the school. With outdated buildings and extensions that don’t serve a purpose, it is quite possible to end up with a mix of mistakes that only hold back the progress of the whole school.

We can work with you to design adaptable, resilient and multi-purpose spaces the future-proof your school.

Project Consultancy

Ensuring the scalability of involvement to suit the size and complexity of the project in hand is critical to the relevance of consultancy.

We aim to become an extension of your in-house project team and assist to bring together all stakeholders to unite on a common goal. Using external coordination management helps to ensure objectives are met in a timely fashion without the interruption that often come when handling multiple internal works projects.

From simply supporting a presentation to the Governing body to leading a large project through the RIBA plan of work, our consultancy can include the full architectural and mechanical packages, FFE Consultancy, planning applications, heritage applications and procurement through our progressive budgeting system.

The simplicity of one point of contact and the ability to deliver small, large or even complex projects without risk, and with creative design and fast timescales, are some of the highlights of this process. Delivery by a team of people familiar with safeguarding and carrying out project management within tight summer holiday periods or during term time where projects require it, allows peace of mind that the bases are covered.

The influence of interior design on students’ of learning and development is a well-documented subject. Our architecturally qualified interior designers are up to date with the effects that light, air, colour, biophilia and acoustics have on both our ability to learn and our educational outcomes.

Our design team will work with you to create the perfect floorplan for your new space or optimise and improved layout for your existing environment.

With years of experience studying student and staff behaviours and spatial trends, our consultants can implement the specific requirements in your brief whilst suggesting new ideas to ensure the final floorplan works for you today, tomorrow and for the future.

Concept Design

Once a layout is agreed in principle, we begin the interior design process. With astute focus, we’ll develop your vision for the space, working collaboratively with your team to propose colour schemes and design features. We use digital mood boards, computer generated images (CGI) and video walkthroughs to convey our cutting edge designs and allow you to visualise your new space long before it’s built.

Technical Design

Our interior design team will work closely with the technical build teams to ensure the concept design is feasible, practical and can be integrated into the property’s base build ensuring major services such as HVAC and plumbing can be adapted to suit the new layout and design. We will produce a full technical drawing pack which the build team can construct from once approved by your internal project team, and when required, an approved building control inspector.

Furniture, fixtures and equipment

Attention to detail is incredibly important. Our consultants are particularly attentive to the detailed and usually softer aspects of your fitout such as loose furniture, feature lighting, planting, artwork, accessories, signage and window coverings. Our interior design team can work with you to suggest products, arrange showroom visits, organise samples to be delivered to you, and procure and deliver within the main project scope.

Whether we are refurbishing one toilet or delivering a large classroom refit project our delivery team remains focused on a quality outcome.

The team are equally dedicated, whether it’s contracting via traditional tender, delivering others’ designs, or bringing our own ideas to life. We understand safeguarding regulations and have a clean Health & Safety record which reflects our commitment to the wellbeing of our colleagues and clients alike.

Your project will be assigned a project manager and dedicated site foreman to ensure that the fitout will be delivered smoothly. We’ll manage all aspects of your fitout, liaising with your estates team, building control and the HSE if an F10 is required. We’ll undertake a condition survey prior to works commencing and will keep you up to speed on the project progress at all times, through weekly site meetings and progress reports including photos, updates and any issues that require your attention.

Our delivery team have successfully delivered many refurbishment projects that required working around a fully operational school. We’ve often undertaken works out of hours to ensure no disruption, or as a phased programme project where areas of the school are put out of use and temporarily screened off, allowing our teams to refurbish your space one section at a time.

Modular Buildings

Modular buildings offer both temporary and permanent solutions to space issues and overcrowding in schools, colleges and universities. Solutions range from glazed structures that allow you to connect students with nature such as Mosso through to sustainable storm proof buildings like our Tufeco buildings.
